GPM ONLINE TOOLS

Online tools built on the P5 Standard and the PMI-GPM guides

These tools apply GPM's standards to a real project: the carbon of delivering and running it, its impact across the 52 elements of the P5 Standard, and how far sustainability practice reaches across an organization. Each page states its method and its sources. GPM Ambassadors get the full version of every tool.

Project GHG Accounting

Estimate the carbon of a project before the gate decision.

The tool reports three figures separately: the carbon of delivering the project, the carbon of running what it hands over across its service life, and the carbon it avoids against a reference scenario that you declare. Avoided carbon is never deducted from the other two. Templates cover infrastructure and IT projects. Every line follows the calculation methods of the GHG Protocol and states its emission factor source, edition, license and data quality, so each figure carries its own range.

Free: a two-minute estimate, the full line-by-line calculation and a printable summary.

GPM Ambassadors: saved projects that keep the factor set they were calculated with, portfolio totals, fifteen P5 statements that a carbon figure cannot see, and the gate report for the sponsor.

P5 Rapid Scan

Screen a project of your own against the P5 Standard in about 15 minutes.

Name your project and choose the elements of the P5 Standard it changes, from all 52. Score each one against the condition today, where 3 is no change, and name the lens it is seen through: product lifespan, product servicing, process efficiency, process effectiveness or process fairness. Then choose the material element, write one response with an owner, and make the call a sponsor would make at the next gate. It is a screening: use it to see where a project stands and what to look at first.

Free: the full scan and a summary to copy. No account and no password.

GPM Ambassadors: the full assessment in P5 Impact Analysis, for this project or any other.

P5 Impact Analysis

The full assessment of a project against the 52 elements of the P5 Standard.

Each element is scored from 1 to 5, where 3 is the baseline condition, 4 is a net improvement and 5 is a net positive enhancement. The elements sit in three categories and eleven subcategories and are read through five lenses for the product and the process. A low score cannot be hidden by a high one: any element at 1 or 2 holds its category at that level. Materiality is set from stakeholder significance and financial relevance, and the result is a dual materiality matrix in the shape of GRI 3-2.

GPM Ambassadors: the full assessment for each of their projects, with materiality, the matrix and the report. The free P5 Rapid Scan is a good first look at a project before the full assessment.

Project Complexity Rating

Rate the management complexity of one of your projects.

Twenty-nine factors in five groups: governance, stakeholders, project definition, project delivery, and environmental and systemic complexity, from physical climate exposure to economic and trade volatility. Each factor is rated from 1 to 4. The result shows the totals by group and checks the project against the minimums for the CSPMx and CSPMs certifications.

Project Context Profile

Rate the complexity of the conditions your project runs in.

Twelve questions, about four minutes: five on internal complexity, five on external complexity and two on how the two are coupled. The result is three scores and one of four complexity categories based on the Cynefin model, with notes on how to plan and run a project in that category. It describes the terrain a project sits on, so a GPM360° assessment can be read in the right context. Your answers stay in your browser until you ask for the report.

Free: the full profile, with a report you can save as a PDF or send to your email. It is the companion instrument to a GPM360° assessment.
