GPM® Use of Intellectual Property Policy
1. Purpose
This policy defines the appropriate use of GPM’s intellectual property (IP), including copyrighted materials, logos, non-registered trademarks, and USPTO-registered trademarks. The intent is to safeguard GPM’s brand integrity and ensure clear, consistent communication in alignment with its values.
2. Copyrighted Materials
GPM retains full rights to its published works, including but not limited to:
- Books, reports, templates, and educational materials (e.g., PRiSM project management lifecycle templates, sustainability management plans, and P5™ Standards).
- Courses, online trainings, and certification programs (e.g., digital learning modules, webinars, and instructor-led content).
Guidelines
- Non-commercial Use: Individuals and organizations may use GPM materials for non-commercial, educational, or personal use only. Modifications, distribution, sale, or resale are prohibited.
- Attribution Requirement: Include: “©[year] by GPM. All rights reserved.”
- Creative Commons Materials: Documents marked with a Creative Commons License may be reused or adapted in compliance with the license terms.
3. Logo Use
Third-party use of the GPM logo is governed by the GPM Logo Use Policy.
4. Trademark Use
Protected Trademarks
- Registered with the USPTO: GPM®, Green Project Management®
- Pending/Unregistered: .Sustainable Project Management™, the GPM Logo, P5™, and all certification names and abbreviations (e.g., GPM360°™, CSPMx™, Certified Sustainable Project Manager (Expert)™).
Guidelines
- Fair Use: Third parties may reference GPM trademarks only for factual, descriptive purposes but without implying affiliation. For example, “This program references Sustainable Project Management™ but is not endorsed by GPM.”
- Prohibited Use: Any use in company names, products, services, domains, or publications.
- Licensing: Trademark use in traning courses, certifications, or training materials requires prior written permission from GPM.
5. Other Restrictions
- No Brand Mimicry: Non-GPM materials must avoid replicating GPM’s branding (e.g., design patterns, color schemes).
- Reservation of Rights: GPM may terminate permissions or licenses for misuse (e.g., unauthorized resale of courses, unlicensed adaptations of books).
- Legal Compliance: Misuse of GPM’s USPTO-registered trademarks may result in legal action under the Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. § 1051 et seq.).
